Wedding DJ & Saxophone

Live Music + DJ

Wedding DJ & Saxophone

The perfect fusion. A DJ's versatility and a saxophonist's live energy — two elements that together create an evening your guests will never forget.

The DJ and saxophone combination has become one of the most sought-after wedding entertainment options of recent years — and couples who choose it consistently describe it as one of the best decisions of their wedding planning. Here's why it works so well.

The Best of Both Worlds

A DJ brings breadth, adaptability, and precision. A live saxophonist brings energy, emotion, and the undeniable excitement of a live performance. When the two work together — the saxophonist improvising over the DJ's tracks — the result is something that neither can achieve alone: an experience that feels both electric and personal.

The Ibiza Influence

The DJ and saxophone format has its roots in the Ibiza club scene, where saxophonists performing over DJ sets became one of the defining sounds of luxury beach clubs. Many couples who've experienced this format on holiday want to recreate that feeling at their wedding — and it translates beautifully to the wedding setting.

When the Saxophonist Performs

Typically, our saxophonist performs during the first hour of the evening reception and for key moments during the main evening set — building to peaks of energy that guests find genuinely exhilarating. The DJ continues throughout, with the saxophonist adding live elements at carefully timed moments.

Roaming and Engaging

Our saxophonists don't stand still. They move through the crowd, interact with guests, and create an energy that a static performance simply can't match. Guests consistently describe these interactions as one of the standout memories of the evening.

Suited to Which Weddings?

The DJ and saxophone combination works best for couples who love music, who want their wedding evening to feel a little different, and who enjoy a high-energy, sophisticated party atmosphere. It suits evening receptions with a full dance floor and guests who are ready to celebrate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DJ and saxophone performance?

A DJ and saxophone performance pairs a live saxophonist improvising over your DJ's tracks. The DJ drives the set while the sax adds live energy and emotion on top. The style originated in Ibiza's beach clubs and translates beautifully to weddings. Together they create something neither delivers alone.

How long does the saxophonist perform during the evening?

Our saxophonist typically plays the first hour of the evening reception, then key peaks across the night. They perform in sets rather than non-stop, keeping the live energy fresh and special. The DJ continues throughout, with the sax joining at carefully timed moments. We agree the schedule with you beforehand.

Can we choose which songs the saxophonist plays?

Yes, you shape the sax repertoire through our online music planning system. The saxophonist improvises over your chosen tracks, so favourite songs gain a live layer. Many couples pick their first dance for a live sax moment. We confirm the set list with you before the wedding.

Is the DJ and sax package suitable for the ceremony as well as the reception?

Yes, live saxophone suits the ceremony, drinks reception, and evening disco alike. During the ceremony and drinks, the sax creates an elegant, atmospheric backdrop. In the evening, it lifts the dance floor alongside the DJ. We tailor where the saxophonist plays to your wedding day timeline.

How much does the DJ and sax package cost?

Live saxophone starts from £650 added to any Blue Diamond DJ package. The final figure depends on your chosen DJ package and how long the sax plays. Bundling DJ and sax together is cheaper than booking the two separately. We confirm one fixed price in your written quote.

Does the saxophonist perform live or over a backing track?

The saxophonist performs genuinely live, improvising over the DJ's tracks rather than a fixed backing tape. Nothing is pre-recorded; every set responds to the room and crowd in real time. They move through guests rather than standing still, building the energy. That spontaneity is what makes it feel special.

How much space does the DJ and sax setup require?

The DJ and sax setup needs roughly the same footprint as a standard DJ booth, plus room to roam. Allow about 3m x 2m for the booth and a clear path for the saxophonist. They perform among guests rather than from a stage. We confirm the layout with your venue beforehand.

Can the DJ and sax package be combined with a photo booth or dance floor?

Yes, DJ and sax bundles easily with any photo booth, LED dance floor, or special effect. Everything is supplied and coordinated in-house by Blue Diamond, with one contract. A live sax over a starlit dance floor makes a memorable centrepiece. We fold every element into one tailored quote.

Is it always the same saxophonist?

We work with a small, trusted group of saxophonists rather than one single performer, so you're never left without a backup. Our first-choice saxophonist is exceptional, with an incredible ability to improvise over almost any track, and he's generally available for bookings. If he's ever unable to make your date, our second-choice saxophonist is one of the original performers from the Ibiza sax scene and very well established in the industry. We also work with a third saxophonist who performs all over the world and has notable television credits, though her availability is more limited given how in demand she is. Whoever performs at your wedding, you're getting a genuinely exceptional live musician.

Can we see a sample video or hear the saxophonist play beforehand?

We're working on building up a fuller library of photos and video from recent weddings to share here. In the meantime, to keep everything properly coordinated as part of your package, we share your saxophonist's direct contact details and social media once you've booked with us, so you can hear plenty of their work and get a feel for their style ahead of your wedding.

Does adding a saxophonist affect setup time?

No, adding a saxophonist doesn't extend our setup time beyond the standard DJ setup. The one thing worth planning for is music: alongside your usual DJ playlist, we ask you to provide a separate list of songs you'd like the saxophonist to play, particularly useful if you'd like live sax during your first dance or another key moment, since this is agreed and prepared in advance of the wedding.

MUSIC PLANNING

Your Playlist. Your Rules.

Building Your Playlist

Music planning for a DJ and sax package works in two layers. The online event planner covers the full DJ set as usual: Must Play, Play If Possible and Do Not Play. The saxophonist's setlist is agreed separately, built around your preferred songs and the tone you want. Both layers are locked in before the day.

The first dance is a key decision for DJ and sax couples. You choose whether the saxophonist plays live during the first dance, the drinks reception, or the early evening set. That choice is confirmed through the planning system ahead of time. Nothing about the sax is left to chance on the night.

Your Do-Not-Play List

The do-not-play list applies to both the DJ set and the sax performance. If you never want a particular track that evening, it stays out of both elements. There is no gap between the two performers. One list, honoured across the whole package.

Guest Requests on the Night

Guest requests are handled by the DJ through the usual request portal. The saxophonist performs a pre-agreed set and does not take live requests on the night. That keeps the sax consistent with the tone you planned. The two roles stay clearly separated, exactly as agreed.
